Tips on Buying and Using the Best Inkjet Printer Paper

While investing in office or home office equipment, stationery and supplies, it is important to consider the kind of paper you will be using after you have decided on the printer and cartridge. Most people while shopping for office supplies often forget to think about paper because they are largely unaware of the different types of papers available today and also the nuances in each type of paper. If you have an inkjet printer then you should invest in a good quality inkjet printer paper but before doing that there are certain factors that you need to consider, if you want to make the right choice.

The first factor that needs to be considered while investing in inkjet printer paper is the whiteness or the brightness of the paper. Paper, according to most people is white in color and requires no further discussion or analysis, is what most of us feel and wrongly so. What most people do not realize is that there are different shades of white and this is very apparent once you compare two sheets of paper with each other. Inkjet papers also come in four shades of whiteness that can be measured on a scale from 1 to 100, with 100 being the maximum. You can compare the different shades of white by actually placing the papers next to each other.

The second factor that needs to be considered while buying inkjet printer paper is the opaqueness of the paper. See through paper is definitely of low quality as it will not allow you to print efficiently on both sides. Hence if you want to invest in a good quality paper and you do a lot of double sided printing, then you should choose a paper that does not allow leakage of ink onto the other side.

The third factor that is important in choosing a good inkjet printer paper is weight of the paper. While the weight of the paper does not play an active role in the quality of printing, it does affect the thoughts of the beholder. Heavy paper will always make a better impression on the reader as to the seriousness of the document as against lighter paper. Similarly, the caliper or thickness of the paper also plays a very important role in choosing printer papers. Typically, an office would like to invest in a multipurpose paper that can be used for both photo as well as text printing. This is where the caliper of the paper comes into picture as it gives you an idea regarding the ink retention of the paper for photographs.

Last but certainly not the least, the finish of the inkjet printer paper plays a very important role in choosing the perfect paper for your office. There are three kinds of finishes available, glossy, semi-glossy and matte. Depending on your requirement and actual printing needs you can choose from any one of these finishes.
